Gigi's Kindness Corps^TM joins forces with Self Help International

Hi Everyone! I'm happy to announce that Gigi's Kindness Corps^TM is joining forces with Self Help International to provide hand knit dishcloths for the children and families of Nicaragua in Central America and Ghana in West Africa. I learned about Self Help when they came to my school. We helped them pack feeding kits for kids in developing countries. The kit included a dishcloth, a cup, and a spoon. The lady from Self Help told us about the babies and children who don’t have enough to eat. I wanted to do something to help so I asked if Gigi’s Kindness Corps could knit the dishcloths. She said yes and was very excited that kids would get involved to help other kids. She said the dishcloths could also be used when Self Help educates the parents of the children in proper health, nutrition and sanitation practices.

I also asked the lady from Self Help what the non-knitting members of GKC could do. She told me they could send a little bit of their allowance to help feed the children. Guess what it costs to feed a child through through Self Help? Five cents. Can you believe it? To provide a child a nutritious breakfast, it only costs a nickel. If everyone sent just one dollar, they could feed one child for 20 days! Or you could feed 20 children for 1 day! I think that’s amazing.
