Hat for 18-inch doll I love to knit for my doll. The projects are done in no time at all!
Doll clothes make great gifts for my friends who have dolls, too.
My friend Ann’s favorite color is pink and I knit this hat for her doll.
To make both the hat, you will need 1 skein of worsted weight yarn.
With 1 or 2 more balls or yarn, you can make a matching hat for
yourself by following the pattern in my book.
Cast on 46 stitches and knit 3 inches.
It’s time to make the top of the hat smaller. Start with a row
when the tail is at the lower left of your knitted piece.
In this row, decrease 4 stitches as follows: Knit 1
stitch, knit 2 together, knit 12 stitches, knit 2 together, knit 12
stitches, knit 2 together, knit 12 stitches, knit 2 together, knit 1
stitch.
You should now have 42 stitches.
Knit 3 rows.
The tail should be at the lower left corner of your knitting. Repeat
the following for the entire row: Knit 5 stitches, knit 2 together.
You should now have 36 stitches.
Knit 1 row.
The tail should be at the lower left corner of your knitting. Repeat
the following for the entire row: Knit 4 stitches, knit 2 together.
You should now have 30 stitches.
Knit 1 row.
The tail should be at the lower left corner of your knitting. Repeat
the following for the entire row: Knit 3 stitches, knit 2 together.
You should now have 24 stitches.
Knit 1 row.
The tail should be at the lower left corner of your knitting. Repeat
the following for the entire row: Knit 2 stitches, knit 2 together.
You should now have 18 stitches.
Knit 1 row.
The tail should be at the lower left corner of your knitting. Repeat
the following for the entire row: Knit 1 stitch, knit 2 together.
You should now have 12 stitches.
Knit 1 row.
The tail should be at the lower left corner of your knitting. Repeat
the following for the entire row: Knit 2 together.
You should now have 6 stitches.
Cut your yarn leaving a 12 inch tail.
Thread the tail through the eye of the yarn needle. Run the needle
through the remaining stitches as you take the stitches off the needle.
Pull tight.
Use the tail to sew the back seam. Line up the two seams so they will
be even. Pin them first if you want to be sure.
Weave in any remaining loose ends.
