Cell Phone Case

My Aunt Mary could never find her cell phone in her purse so she asked
if I could knit her a case for it to make it easier to find. I was
glad to do it and I even added a cat button because Aunt Mary loves
cats!

You will need 1 skein of Worsted weight yarn. You will also need a button.

Cast on 25 stitches. Knit 28 rows (14 ridges) for a flip phone or a
few more rows if the phone is longer. Bind off loosely.

With the garter stitch ridges horizontal (side to side) and not vertical
(up and down), fold in half from left to right and sew the side seam
on the right side. Your bound off edge should be at the top and your
cast on edge should be at the bottom. Now turn it inside out and sew
the cast on edge together to make the bottom seam. Turn right side out.

It’s time to make a strap. Cast on 5 stitches. Knit for 2 inches.
Bind off 3 stitches. Continue to knit the 2 remaining stitches for
about 1 inch. Cut the yarn leaving a 6 inch tail and pull through
the 2 remaining stitches to secure. Use the tail to sew the 2 stitches
to the other side where you bound off the 3 stitches to form a loop.
Make sure the loop is the right size for your button. Sew the other
end of the strap to the inside rim at the top of the case and secure it.
Sew the button in place.
